Calgary Zombies in October

The Calgary Zombie Walk in October started as a kind of low-key thing the zombies seemed to know about due to their special zombie telepathy.

Thanks to Facebook, twitter, mass texting and all those other good things, Zombie frolics are getting a tad more co-ordinated. This picture from October 20, 2007 was from the third Zombie walk.

If you think that being a vacant-minded* member of the undead might be fun, keep your eyes and ears open in October. I don't have a clue how these things get organized but I bet with enough lead time, any zombie can find it out.

* No offence, but I'm told that zombies have no brains. Literally.

We like fireworks in Calgary. In the summer there's a world championship, and in the winter, we kick off the New Year with a great display. And of course, each night of the Calgary Stampede grandstand show ends with more lights and bangs than a ... whatever.

Bowness Park in the west end of Calgary is locally famous for summer and winter fun. The lagoon is great for outdoor skating.

There's no denying that Prairie winters are cold, but we like to say, "It's a dry cold." Not your Maritime ice storm. No squalls off the Great Lakes, no Pacific fog. Just us and the crisp air.

It's cold but uplifting to have that brilliant blue sky to look at
