Spring 2009 Slow to Arrive in Calgary

This picture of the Bow River gives a clue about how much snow we've had this winter in Calgary.

I can report today that the past three or four days of warm weather have taken most of the snow and ice away. Leaving behind a lot of brown grass and buds literally on the edge of bursting. If this keeps up, we should see some beautiful tinges of green on our trees, lawns, and gardens by next week. One of the most scenic times of year around here.
It's a good time to visit Calgary, but if you're visiting from far away, do bring your winter coat, hat, mitts and boots in case you decide to go to Banff or somewhere else in the mountains. It's colder up there and we want you to be comfortable.
