See Fireworks on New Year's Eve in Calgary's Olympic Plaza
January 11th 2009 00:57
We like fireworks in Calgary. In the summer there's a world championship, and in the winter, we kick off the New Year with a great display. And of course, each night of the Calgary Stampede grandstand show ends with more lights and bangs than a ... whatever.
D'Arcy Norman found the perfect location for shooting the fireworks in Olympic Plaza - the observation deck of the Calgary Tower. Clever!
The Calgary Tower used to be the tallest building we had, and we called it the Husky Tower. Funny how everything else has been rebranded from the Calgary-this or that to the Corporate-this or that, while the Calgary Tower has held on to its place-based name. Good on ya, Calgary Tower people.
Make a note for New Year's Eve next time you're in Calgary: fireworks at Olympic Plaza. You can probably get a warm beverage not too far away.
